AmitJethwani

I'm a staff software engineer. I build the backend systems that get groceries from a store shelf to someone's door, and lately I spend my evenings building with LLMs.

Dubai, UAE. Staff engineer at Careem.

What I work on

Most of my work lives in distributed systems: services that have to stay correct when stock counts change every second, orders arrive in bursts, and a dozen teams depend on the same event streams.

At Careem I lead the grocery fulfilment platform, which covers order picking, inventory management and store operations. I spend a lot of my time on architecture reviews, untangling hard production problems, and mentoring engineers earlier in their careers.

Right now I'm going deep on AI: how LLMs behave in production, agentic tooling, and where they genuinely fit into backend systems versus where they don't.

Say hello

Happy to talk about distributed systems, fulfilment, or what's actually working with AI in production.
